While it isn't the most creative name in New York nightlife, The Bar Below Rye trades on the popularity of restaurateur Cal Elliott's upstairs property, giving patient diners one hell of a waiting room, bedecked in the same sort of repurposed adornments that decorate the upstairs restaurant. Aside from a small wine selection, a fairly run-of-the-mill beer menu (well, run-of-the-mill for Brooklyn: Narragansett, Stella, Bud, etc.), and a half-dozen speciality cocktails, the Bar Below Rye also features the restaurant's famous duck meatloaf, as well as crab croquettes, drunken grilled cheese, pork belly sandwiches, and a good bit more.
